- EXCELLENCE:

  • Competitors must present a program lasting a maximum of 30 mns including  :
      • One Etude
      • Three or four pieces from a different period.

- CONCERT ARTIST:

  • Qualifying auditions:
      • One Etude
      • One movement of a sonata by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert (which will be played again for the final audition)
  • Final Audition:
      • Competitors must present an open program of a maximum of 45 mns including at least four pieces from different periods.

- EXPERIENCED NON-PROFESSIONAL PIANIST:

  • Competitors must present an open program of a maximum of 20 minutes.

  • Thursday Morning, June 3rd: Experienced Non-Professional Pianist.
      • 9.00am-12.30pm: 8 candidates

- 3rd JURY

  • Thursday Afternoon, June 3rd: Qualifying events Concert Artist
      • 2.00-4.00 pm: 10 candidates
      • 4.30-6.30 pm: 10 candidates
  • Friday, June 4th : Qualifying events Concert Artist
      • 9.00am-12.30pm: 12 candidates
      • 2.00-6.30 pm: 11 candidats
      • 7.30 pm : Finalists Prize list
  • Saturday, June 5th: Concert Artist Finale (from 6 to 8 candidates)
      • 8.00pm : Prize list and Prize-giving, cocktail.

Rules

Art. 1
The competition is open to pianists of all nationalities.
Concert Artist category:
- An age limit is set at 32.
- Competitors can be lodged at people’s houses upon request ,and depending on availability.
- Qualifying exams will take place on the 3rd and 4th of June.
- The final exam will take place on June 5th 2010.
Experienced non-professional Pianists category:
- The minimum required age is 30
- Competitors must provide proof of amateur status
Art. 2
Applicants wishing to compete must complete the attached application form in CAPITAL LETTERS, and must send their completed form, along with payment of the application fee (by check payable to OPUS YVELINES or by electronic funds transfer) to the Competition Secretary: 3, rue Corneille, F, 78360 Montesson.
OPUS YVELINES bank account details can be obtained on request.
Those candidates who wish to be housed (subject to availability), please fill in the application form.
Incomplete application dossiers shall not be considered for inclusion in the competition.
Applications for the Advanced, Excellence, Concert Artist and Adult Experienced Amateur categories also must provide two passport sized photographs and a one page biography.
Art. 3
Application fees are non refundable.
The deadline for applications is 27 March 2010.
Competitors cannot change their programme after their application.
The deposit of 100 € will be returned to the competitors in the Excellence , Concert Artist and Adult Experienced Amateur categories after their auditions.
Art. 4
Competitors will receive their convocation at the latest one week before the competition ,which will take place from May 30th to June 5th 2010.The convocation will include a map with the date and time at which the competitor should be present. It will also serve as proof of receipt
No competitor may rehearse on the Competion Piano. Practice pianos will be made available .
In the interest of the smooth running of the competition, competitors are requested to inform the secretary as quickly as possible in the event of an absence.
Art. 5
The number of competitors in the Advenced,,Excellence ,Concert Artist and Adult Experienced Amateur categories will be strictly limited.
Art. 6
The jury, which is made up of eminent musicians, reserves the right to abridge competitors’ ’audition time. The pieces from the first three Sections must be played without starting over.
Art. 7
The jury may decide not to award all the prizes if it considers the level to be insufficiently high. Whatever the decision competitors will not be able to appeal.
Art. 8
The results will be announced at the end of the competition.
In the Concert Artist Category the Prize Giving will take place on Saturday June 5th at 8:30 p.m. and will be followed by a cocktail party. Competitors must attend.
Art. 9
The 1st prize winner for Adult Experienced Amateur will be invited to give a free recital at the Eglise St. MERRY in PARIS in 2010.
Competitors agree to be photographed, filmed, broadcast on television, and to appear in video on the website of the International ’Ile-de-France Piano Competition without laying claim to royalties and compensation.
Art. 10
The competition will be open to the public for a charge of €5 a day. Competitors’ parents and teachers, students, children and members of OPUS YVELINES will however be allowed free entry.
Art. 11
The French language version of the Rules is definitive. Competitors subscription implies agreement with the rules and annexes listed above.

Accommodation with Families

Candidates can obtain accommodation with host families according to availability.
Candidates must only ask for accommodation with host families during enrolment by legibly filling in the enrolment form which is on the back.
It must be stressed that accommodation (bed and breakfast) is for candidates only. Other meals and travelling expenses (from the host family’s house to the place of the competition) are excluded and will not be refunded.
Candidates are required to respect the host family’s privacy and way of life by being discreet during their activities; for example they must tell the host family if they are going out and be back before 10 p.m. and they must keep the rooms that they are using tidy and clean.
Candidates who have been eliminated from the competition must immediately leave their host families except where some other arrangement has been agreed between the candidate and the host family.
Host families who own a piano will allow candidates to practise on it for a maximum of 2 hours daily except where some other arrangement has been agreed between the two parties. Only those candidates who stay with a host family can practise on the host family’s piano.
Candidates must contact their host family at least 2 weeks before the date when the competition starts. They must confirm their arrival times one week before the competition starts. If this is not done, the place will be given to another candidate.
OPUS YVELINES and host families decline any responsibility in case of theft or accident relating to the candidate staying with the family.
In the case of under age candidates, a written authorisation will be required from their parents.
